Renfrew offers voluntary Accident Insurance through Cigna. Medical coverage helps with major expenses; accident insurance pays a lump-sum benefit for a covered injury — such as a sprained ankle or broken arm — to help with extra out-of-pocket costs.

The benefit amount depends on the type of injury or treatment. Examples of covered injuries include broken bones, burns, concussion, ruptured disks, coma due to a covered injury, torn ligaments, and cuts repaired by stitches. Covered expenses can include emergency room treatment, hospitalization, doctor visits, physical therapy, imaging, and surgery.

Also included:

  • Catastrophic benefit — an additional sum for a serious injury, such as loss of a limb, plus an additional AD&D benefit on top of Renfrew’s employer-paid benefit
  • Wellness benefit — $50 per year for each member who completes a wellness screening (annual physical, mammography, gynecological exam, and similar)

Coverage is portable. If you leave the company or retire, you may take it with you without new health questions; Cigna will bill you directly. Coverage starts on the first day of the month in which payroll deductions begin. Premiums are deducted from your paycheck.
